Anyone can volunteer. Whatever your age, skills or abilities, whether you are sighted or visually impaired, we have a volunteering opportunity to suit you.

You can devote as much or as little time as you want to volunteer. Whether it’s a couple of hours a week, a month or a year, you could have a huge impact on somebody’s life.

Find a volunteering role that suits you

Volunteer driver

We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic people to join our team of volunteer drivers. You would need access to your own car to collect visually impaired people from their homes and take them to hospital appointments or social events.

We always aim to match you with visually impaired people living in your area and pay your mileage costs. You will be given training on how to guide visually impaired people and we’ll provide you with a DBS check.

Location: Across Cornwall with immediate vacancies in Falmouth, Penryn, Mylor, Helston and the Lizard, Truro, St Austell and Bodmin.

Walking Buddy

Over 40 per cent of blind and partially sighted people feel cut off from people and things around them and 50 per cent feel limited in the activities they can take part in. Walking Buddies play a vital role in helping people to overcome these barriers by providing the support they need to get outside for a short walk.

We will aim to match you with someone living in your area and pay your mileage costs. You will be given training on how to guide visually impaired people and we’ll provide you with a DBS check.

Telephone befriender

We are looking for friendly volunteers to provide weekly or fortnightly phone calls to people who may be feeling lonely and isolated. You would need to have a mobile phone or landline contract with free minutes included and we would provide you with a DBS check.

Club Helper

Clubs are a lifeline to our members providing invaluable social contact and in many cases a healthy activity too. All of our clubs are run by volunteers who make sure the activities are set up, refreshments are provided and the members are well looked after. Without volunteer helpers, the clubs wouldn’t exist which is why it is such a vital role.

Location: Across Cornwall with immediate vacancies at BUGS Shooting Club in St Austell and Ludgvan Bowling Club.
