Sensing Nature

April 27, 2017 1:33 pm

We’re seeking volunteers to help the University of Exeter complete a study exploring how natural environments feature in the lives of people living with low vision and sight loss.

The study entitled ‘Sensing Nature’ would involve a series of in-depth interviews and aims to promote greater awareness of people’s multi sensory encounters with nature, as well as shed light on how and why blind or partially sighted people have negotiated barriers to access.

Working closely with organisations such as the Design Council, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust, the findings will influence recommendations that can promote more positive experiences in nature, ensuring an inclusive approach to landscape design and accessibility that supports opportunities for adventure, immersion and meaningfull connection.

For more information about the study, please visit www.sensing-nature.com or contact Sarah Bell directly via Sarah.Bell@execter.ac.uk.
