Accessibility Training at Indoor Active

February 14, 2017 4:04 pm

Last Thursday we were lucky to be invited to meet with Amelia and Luke from Indoor Active.  The soft play & climbing centre at Cornwall Services is very popular with visually impaired clients. Indoor Active offers Cornwall’s biggest “Clip n Climb” centre and has been featured in the children’s television show CBeebies. Clip n Climb allows the climber to clip onto an automatic belay system and start climbing without the need for a partner. This system makes climbing safe, accessible and enjoyable for all.

The centre wanted to seek advice from iSightCornwall on how to adequately train their staff and make the venue fully accessible for those with a visually impairment. Amelia and Luke met with iSightCornwall Chief Executive, Terri Rosnau-Ward and two of our clients to discuss disabled access and ensure all team members know how to cater for visually impaired customers. After the training we were given the opportunity to test the climbing equipment which proved to be a lot of fun!

It was absolutely fantastic to meet a team so passionate about improving access for those with a disability and it is hoped that a visually impaired climbing club could be formed sometime in the near future!
