Eye health comes into focus with Specsavers partnership

We’ve teamed up with Specsavers in Cornwall to help raise the profile of local eye health services and what better place to launch the partnership than the Royal Cornwall Show.

Visitors to the show were able to learn more about the four most common preventable sight loss conditions in the Eye Pod. The innovative sight loss simulator uses a periscope and electronic screens to simulate diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts.

Carole Theobald, deputy chief executive of iSightCornwall said: “We’re delighted to be working with Specsavers to help raise the profile of eye health services in Cornwall.

“The Royal Cornwall Show is the biggest event of its kind in the county and over the course of the three days we saw hundreds of people who hopefully now understand the importance of regular eye tests.”

Almost 50 per cent of sight loss could be avoided if detected early enough. Regular eye tests can help reduce avoidable sight loss.

Regional chairperson for Cornwall Specsavers stores, Jo McLean says: ‘We’re delighted to be working with iSightCornwall and hope to help prevent more people from needlessly losing their sight.”

A donation, however small, can change someone's life. Thank you for your support.
