Bugle Blues celebrate 25 year anniversary

The members of Bugle Blues Bowling Club were finally able to meet to celebrate their 25 year anniversary and enjoyed a fun-filled meal to mark the occasion.

Bugle Blues Bowling Club was formed on 1 June 1996 by the Cornwall County Association for the Blind, now known as iSightCornwall. They were originally based in Bugle, hence the name, but they now meet at Goonbarrow Bowling Club every Thursday morning. One of the members, Ivor Rice, joined the club the week after it was founded and is still a member to this day.

Although they were unable to meet in June due to Covid-19 restrictions, the group remained in contact thanks to its dedicated team of volunteers led by Henry Tabb and were finally able to start bowling again in September.

To celebrate the landmark anniversary, the club members and volunteers were joined by iSightCornwall Volunteer Manager, Jodi Strick, for a Christmas meal at the Britannia Inn, St Austell, just before Christmas.

iSightCornwall were able to make a significant contribution to the meal using a grant from Cornwall Council Funding which was awarded to the charity to help them support public health during the coronavirus pandemic.

Jodi said: “It was wonderful to see everyone together again and be able to celebrate this anniversary with them.
“I would like to give a huge thank you to the volunteers for all that they do and say a special thank you to Henry who has decided to step down from his role as Secretary of Bugle Blues. I know he’ll be missed by everyone at the club.
“Congratulations to everyone who has been involved with Bugle Blues over the years on this special anniversary.”
