Hospital information desks
We currently have six hospital information desks. Our largest desk is situated in the Ophthalmology Department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro where we can support up to 300 patients every month. We also have hospital information desks in the Camborne, Falmouth, Helston, Launceston and St Austell Community Hospitals when the eye clinics take place.
All the information desks display a small range of low vision aids and equipment such as magnifiers, television glasses, talking watches, water level indicators and MP3 players which our staff and volunteers are happy to demonstrate for you. They also provide information about different eye conditions as well as the services we offer to help those living with sight loss.
So why not pop along when you are next visiting the hospital and have a chat with our friendly staff and volunteers?
Eye Clinic Liaison Officer
We are delighted to be working with Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust to provide Cornwall’s first ever Eye Clinic Liaison Officer, known as an ECLO. Our Eye Clinic Liaison Officer, Tara Butler can provide you with emotional and practical support to help you understand your diagnosis and come to terms with living with sight loss.
We also offer advice to help you receive the benefits you are entitled too, information on visually impaired clubs and activities in your area and advice on low vision aids.
