Two of iSightCornwall’s affiliated clubs had reason to celebrate over Christmas after being chosen to benefit from a local dramatic society’s fundraising efforts.

The Lewannick Amateur Dramatic Society (LADS) made a triumphant return to the stage last month following a two year absence, delighting audiences with their production of The Good, The Bad & The Ugly Sisters.

To mark the occasion the LADS members also decided to help support local Cornish charities and chose both Bugle Blues Bowling Club and Blind Using Guides Sights (BUGS) Shooting Club as two of six charities who would receive some of the profits from the performance.

The pantomime proved to be a huge success and the society managed to make a brilliant £2,500 to be divided between their chosen causes.

A spokesperson from LADS said: “Lewannick Amateur Dramatic Society are thrilled to announce that after a two year absence, we finally got to tread the boards again.
“This years’ panto was a huge success and we would like to thank everyone that supported the show in any way, thanks to you we are delighted to say we are sending an amazing £2,500 to charity.”

iSightCornwall Chief Executive, Carole Theobald, said: “We were delighted to hear that two of our clubs had been chosen by the Lewannick Amateur Dramatic Society. Living with sight loss can be an isolating experience and our clubs are a lifeline to some of the blind and partially sighted people in Cornwall. Going to a club can help keep people active and learning new skills and also offers a social element which is great for mental wellbeing.

“We are very grateful to the society’s members and to their audience for their generosity – thank you!”
